The New iPad Air

After taking the Apple Store down earlier this morning, Apple has announced new iPads. The new ipads come as new 10.5-inch iPad Air and a new 7.9-inch iPad Mini.

Both new iPads have been updated with the A12 Bionic chip that is currently in the iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR. This should bring plenty of power to both machines. Both machines also now support the Apple Pencil.

The new iPad Air has gained a new screen size at 10.5 and has gained True-Tone. The return to the Air also means that this device has slimmed down a little bit compared to the standard 9.7 iPad. Finally, Apple has added support for the Smart Keyboard Cover, which allows you to attach the old style Keyboard to the smart connector on the iPad Air. This allows you to connect a keyboard that you can have with you as you travel and not have to worry about Bluetooth or batteries.

It comes in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray. There are only 2 storage options 64 GB ($499) and 256 GB ($649). There is also an LTE option for an extra charge.

The Mini was also updated but there weren’t as many changes. So far, the style hasn’t changed at all, and is still the same it has been since the second generation.

Apple has added support for the Apple Pencil.

The Mini comes in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray. It also comes in two storage options 64GB ($399) and 256 GB ($549). LTE is also an option.

It looks like you can order today and expect them next week.

The older 10.5-inch iPad Pro and the older Mini are no longer being sold.

That seems to be all that was updated today. While the iPad Air seems exciting, and those that have been waiting for a new iPad Mini will be happy. But still, no AirPods or AirPower announcements. No new Mac hardware.

Maybe they are holding off bigger things for next week? With today’s announcement, I’m feeling more doubtful.
