So, according to The Wall Street Journal, the Nintendo Switch might be getting a redesign in the latter half of 2019.

The Switch has been my favorite console in a long time, since probably the novelty of the Wii.  There are so many games out for the system, and things just seem to keep coming.

I personally am not ready for a redesigned Switch Console just yet.  While I know that a redesign would be pretty great, I just don’t think it’s been out long enough to warrant me buying a new version of the system.

However, if they do update the system, I can only imagine what they might change:

For one, the article says that the display technology would be improved.  Right now, there’s no real problem with the screen.  While the screen does drop to a max resolution of 720p when in handheld mode, it can still project 1080p to the television.

So new screen with improved specs would be welcomed for sure, but not a mandatory update for me.

I’m sure that people that play their Switches on the go would love more battery.  When it was announced, I know that battery life was one of the biggest concerns and drawbacks, so an improved battery would be great as well.

Again, an issue that I haven’t really run into yet is storage.  I’ve put a larger mini-SD card in my system which so far has held all the games I’ve downloaded, and I haven’t noticed in a reduction in speed.  Once again though, a bigger hard drive on the system would be a boon for new and serious gamers.  The 32 gig hard drive is paltry compared to even smartphones now in 2018.

Knowing Nintendo like I have (I’ve been a fan since the NES and Mario graced my old CRT TV in the 80s) the new system will look amazing.   Nintendo will probably release a newer slimmer looking model, that will have everyone lusting after it, similar to the DS lite way back when.

So with all said and done, I’ll probably upgrade yet again even though I said I wouldn’t.  I only ended up buying 3 DS systems, and 2 3DS after all.

Are you excited about a redesigned Nintendo Switch?  If you already own one, what would it take to get you to upgrade?
