Apple updated the MacBook Air today.

The 2020 MacBook Air brings a faster Intel processor as well as updated graphics. These graphics will help bring up to 80% faster graphics.

The screen retains all of the previous technologies like Retina and True Tone.

Almost totally redesigned, however, is the keyboard. Gone are the butterfly keys that caused so much trouble in the past! Apple has replaced the butterfly keyboard with its Magic Keyboard, bringing the MacBook Pro 16-inch keyboard. The keys have a redesigned scissor mechanism and offer 1mm of travel, which is more than the previous version. It also has the inverted T-shaped arrow keys.

Price

Besides the keyboard, the best thing the MacBook Air 2020 has going for it is the price. Apple has managed to bring the price down to start at $999 while providing more base storage than before. For $999, you get 256GB. If you’re a student, that price drops even further to $899.

My Opinion

This Mac checks off most of my list for what I wanted to see on the Mac in 2020. While this isn’t an ARM-based Mac, and I still think they are coming, this is many steps in the right direction.

I’ve already got my order in for the base model, and I never get the base model of an Apple product. I think it offers plenty for what I need, though.

Apple also updated the iPad Pro and brought a new Magic Keyboard.
