I read an interesting article about the lightsabers in the new Star Wars movies. The author says that one of the biggest twist in Episode 9 could be what happens with Rey’s Blade.

I think the author is right on many points, but some of the things Ryan Britt says about episode 8 bug me. I wasn’t a fan of Episode 8. I thought that it tried to do some interesting thing with the story, but the execution of them were off.

That said, in Episode 8 while there are plenty of lightsabers, not a single one of them crosses blades with another one. Luke and Kyle never actually battle, Luke just dodges the entire time. Rey and Kylo team up to fight the guards, but never each other.

I have high hopes for Episode 9. I trust JJ. The Force Awakens was my favorite Star Wars movie since Empire. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
