The new Apple Music update has finally come to my phone today and it is surprisingly simple yet awesome! It makes the For You tab so much better to use and more likely for me to find something to listen too.
The Update Is Simple
This is a simple update to the For You tab on Apple Music. The For You tab was usually a page I only went to to try one of the weekly update playlist (which can be pretty hit or miss) and get easy access to an album or playlist that I’ve listened to lately.
It always recommended me playlist and albums to listen to but I hardly ever actually picked one of them.
Now though, they’ve changed the way they recommend music to you. Instead of having a section for albums to listen to, and a section of playlists to listen to, these are now integrated into a theme.
For example, there an alternative row now that shows me albums and playlist in that genre.
More than that though, there’s live stuff that’s being recommended there too. I love live music, and I jumped at the chance to listen to some when I saw it on there.
Easier to use
I think this style is going to be much easier to use and discover new music. These genres are even updating more frequently than the once a day that the For You take used to update.
Now, I’ll spend some time scrolling through one of these categories when I want to listen to something which I wouldn’t have done before.
Before, if there wasn’t something specific that i want to watch, I would check the personalized playlist like My Favorites or head straight to radio. I felt like I had all this music, but I never really listened to albums anymore and I think this will change in the future.
The change is rolling out slowly to Apple Music subscribers. You don’t need to be on the betas or anything to get access to it, just time. You don’t even need to update your phone.
