Today’s tip is one of those tips that can help speed up not only your process, but also you phone. Maybe people don’t even know that Safari has Tabs, but all those tabs can slow down Safari. Here are some tips and tricks for dealing with Safari on iPhone.
Safari Basics
Currently on iOS, when you press on a link from mail or any app that doesn’t have it’s own browser, Safari will launch and open a new tab or window. It’s a smart way for it to do that, because it won’t lose the tab you were working in.
However, this can build up over time. If you have tons of tabs open, it can slow down your experience.
Looking at Safari, you’ll notice the address bar at the top and the 5 buttons at the bottom: Back, Forward, Share, Bookmarks, and Tabs. If you press the tab button, you can see all your currently open tabs.
Close Your Safari Tabs
To close tabs, you can go through and close these one by one by hitting the X in the top left of the Tab screen. This way, you won’t accidentally close something that you wanted to save. But if you have a ton of these open, it could take a while.
Open a Closed Safari tab
If you do close a tab that you meant to keep, you can get it back! On the tab screen, push and hold on the plus button at the bottom of the screen. This will bring up a screen of ALL of your recently deleted Tabs. Simply push on the one you want to bring it back.
Close all your tabs
If there’s nothing that you really need to save, you can close all your tabs with two button pushes.
From the standard Safari screen, push and hold on the tab button. You will get a pop-up menu with 4 options: Close All # Tabs, Close This Tab, New Private Tab, New Tab.
Push the first button to close all your tabs. That’s it!
Manage Your tabs from another device
If you have logged into the same iCloud account on a different device, you can manage the tabs across device. From the Tab view, swipe all the way down until you see your list of devices.
If have a page on your Mac that you’d like to open on your open on your iPhone, simple find the page listed under your Mac here.
If you’d like to close a tab, swipe right to left on the tab and you’ll get a close button. Press the close button and you’re all set.
Wrap Up
Having too many tabs open can slow down the app or maybe even your phone. Make sure you control how many tabs you have open.
