Apple updated the iMac today

A day after Apple announced the new iPad Air and iPad Mini, they continue the trend by updating the iMac line.

While the iMacs didn’t get a makeover like I would have liked, they did get a pretty major spec bump. Apple has updated the processor inside, you can now get a 4, 6, or 8 core 9th generation Intel chip – they haven’t made the move to ARM just yet. . machine depending on which size you pick. The ram has also been updated to a faster 2666mhz DDR 4 ram. As far as I can tell, the ram is still upgradable on the larger machine, but you probably want to get that upgrade at purchase if you are buying the smaller iMac.

The new iMacs also have a new Radeon Pro Vega with up to 8GB of ram, although most options only have 4GB and can’t be upgraded in the customization options.

Everything else remains the same as far as design, ports, and screen.

These are up for sale on Apple.com right now, and ship at the beginning of April.

I’ve got my order in for one of these new iMacs and will report back once it’s in.
