Alright, pre-order day is here.  What did you all get?

We woke up this morning at 2 A.M. to get our orders in.  It took a couple of minutes for the store to work.  We had to jump off the wifi at home for it to finally connect actually.

Ordering was actually a breeze for me this year…

Nova had forgotten to get pre-approved for the Apple Upgrade Program, but honestly, she got through it pretty quickly.

I need to admit that I lied to you all too.

Maybe not lied, but I didn’t go with what I had been saying all week. I ended up ordering the iPhone Xs Max 256 in Space Grey.  I went with the Max because it was more new, and I thought I could write about it more.  So really I did it for all of you.

When I got through the app store, it had delivery for Sept 21.  I made it through the process and on the last page it said Sept 21.  I was pretty excited since last year I didn’t make it through in time for the first day.  I ordered, and I noticed that I had to pay an extra payment for my current iPhone since it came out in November of last year.  I wasn’t mad, but it was a bit of a surprise.  I wish they would have told me that when I got pre-approved for the upgrade.

Nova went through and ordered her phone, without much of a hitch. She got the Xs 256 in gold.  I’m excited to see how the gold looks.  After ordering, she almost instantly got her email confirmation about her order.  It made me question if I had gotten mine, because I couldn’t remember getting it.

Upon inspection, I hadn’t gotten it.  I waited for a while, surfing the Apple Store website to see if the delivery days were still on schedule when I finally got my e-mail.  It had taken about 10 minutes, and my delivery date had somehow slipped to October.

I think I would have been okay with this if it wasn’t for this website now (or at least, that’s who I’m going to blame for this).  Waiting until October doesn’t help anyone in this case.  I wouldn’t be able to write my impressions or hands-on of the device until then.  So I went back to the Apple Store app.

The delivery dates had indeed slipped for delivery, but not for in-store pick-up.  So I went through the process again and selected that.  I choose on there to pay the phone outright, hoping that I can change it in store when I go to pick it up.  I know that it’s been done in the past for others.  If it doesn’t change, I’ll just hang on to the phone until my upgrade program one arrives and then return or sell it.

But wait, there’s more!

Browsing the site, I saw that the Series 4 Apple Watch was still available for in-store pickup.  I also saw that Apple has started a trade-in program for the  Apple Watch.  They were offering me $225 dollars credit for my Series 3 watch.  It had been floating through my head that I should get the Watch so that I could write about it as well, hopefully, to help my blog get going even more.  I ran it through my head for a while, and well, I’m weak.  Apple will ship me a box to send my current watch to them for the credit.

So I have a Series 4 Apple Watch to write about come next week as well.

I’m thinking that a couple of weeks with the new Watch will tell me if it’s worth the upgrade.  If not, I’ll just return it and keep my series 3.  That’s the plan for now at least.

So to recap: Space Grey iPhone Xs Max 256, Space Grey Apple Watch Series 4 GPS only on order for pick-up next Friday.

I hope to write about my experience with both devices soon after I get them, and will be writing my initial impressions of them as I set them up.

Also, check back Monday for my iOS 12 preview and guide hopefully just after they release them.

What did you get?  What didn’t you get?  How’d the order process go for you?  Leave me a comment!
